Soda siphons were a common household item in Poland during the PRL period. They were thick-walled glass bottles filled with carbonated water at specialised facilities or exchanged in shops for full ones. Glass siphons were part of the distribution system for carbonated water. Once empty, the bottle was returned for refilling, which is why a deposit and exchange system was used.
