SHELL CHAIR H LACHERT PRL

The “Muszelka” chair was designed by Hanna Lachert in 1956 for the “ŁAD” Artists’ Cooperative in Warsaw. The name of the model directly refers to its form. The seat takes the shape of an open, upholstered shell with a distinctive oval recess, based on a plywood construction. An important element of the design was the use of an upholstered seat instead of leaving the plywood exposed. This solution simplified the production process, as the upholstery made it possible to conceal the reinforced joints and structural elements.
